The insight group is a part of the Perkins+Will i/o lab. The purpose of the group is to integrate right-brain / left-brain solutions to complex problems with the application of next-generation tools and technologies.

THE POWER OF DESIGN THINKING

Architects and designers are expert problem-solvers with centuries of experience in deconstructing challenging obstacles and applying solutions which are as much art as they are science. However, many of todays problems require new levels of analysis at an unprecedented scale of computation and complexity. This has led to an explosion of data released from systems and archives and a corresponding rise in new tools to capture, sort, analyze and apply insights in problem-solving.

Many people refer to “Big-Data” as the new frontier in architecture and design. Data availability and integration will become more prevalent in all sectors and scales as systems evolve and information becomes a crucial asset for individuals, businesses and governments. While there is much work to do in the development of data capability, the challenge which lies beyond is the integration of big data output into traditional practice.
Insight i/o is a platform to augment the core ability and expertise of design teams.
